Kapil looks for an aggressive Dravid

By John Cheeran
India’s legendary all rounder Kapil Dev is not impressed with Rahul Dravid’s captaincy.
Kapil, who broke down on live television while combating Inderjit Singh Bindra’s views on match-fixing, knows a thing or two about striking a chord with a live TV audience.
Global cricket is, after all, a television spectacle.
Kapil says the Dravid he watches on TV screen gives the impression that Indian skipper is not doing enough to convince a former captain like him that he is in charge.
Kapil, however, is charitable enough to point out that there is no lack of thought in skipper Dravid. Kapil rates Dravid as one of the best batsmen in contemporary cricket.
Kapil’s grouse is that Dravid comes through the television images as a captain from the 50s and 70s. Dravid is not aggressive enough, that is what the point Kapil is making.
May be a gentleman skipper among a bunch of bloated egos?
Kapil Dev’s viewpoints should not be a surprise in an India where theatrics is accepted as the real thing. In India, cricket pundits consider stripping shirt as the high point of leading from the front.
Such thinking minds would even advise that if Ganguly removes all his clothes, not just his shirt, on the batting crease, the South African fast bowlers would run away.
Dear Kapil, let Rahul Dravid be Rahul Dravid.
