When Ganguly ifs and buts

By John Cheeran
No ifs and buts.
The recalled Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly is pleading with his Bengali supporters not to spoil his last innings, if it all he could put on the pads in South Africa.
People must live in hope, so should Ganguly and his supporters.
After all, Yuvraj Singh got injured; Dravid got injured and Sehwag, Tendulkar and Kaif are struggling with the bat.
And poojas are going on and astrologer has told Ganguly to keep his back lift pointed towards Jupiter while facing Andre Nel and Shaun Pollock. All indicators point towards a glorious comeback by Ganguly. As they say, the mother of all comebacks.
On Thursday, I witnessed journalism at its best in Calcutta when Ganguly met reporters.
A die-hard Ganguly crony, masquerading as a journalist, angled for a story by asking: If Dravid could not play in the first Test and VVS Laxman is the vice-captain but he has no experience of leading India and you are there, so what will happen?
An exasperated Ganguly says: “Nothing will happen. The Team will play under Laxman.”
Then Ganguly begged his supporters not to ask any if and but questions.
But then Ganguly’ comeback itself has been ordained by ifs and buts.

Hi John,
I really feel that Dada will redeeem himself, I am not a hardcore fan of him, but I feel that he got a raw deal and if Sehwag continues his miserable form the next sheep to be slaughtered would be Veeru.
