Mammootty gets his political lines wrong

By John Cheeran
Mammootty does not require any introduction to movie buffs in India. Even outside south India, Mammooty is well known for his acting abilities mainly thanks to Jabbar Patel’s biopic on B.R. Ambedkar. It is a pity that such efforts were not largely appreciated by the Northern India.
But the point is this, Mammootty is a great actor but what a bungler he is in real life.
As an actor Mammootty’s greatest strength is his voice and dialogue presentation. But Mammooty can only mouth his script, without someone else’s lines, Mammootty becomes almost a caricature of a man.
Mammootty’s unease with words comes through easily despite his careful makeup.
Get hold of any television interview with this actor and you cannot miss the point.
So it comes as no surprise that Mammootty, while addressing the DYFI (Marxist youth federation meeting in Chennai, said that if the DYFI were active in Gujarat, the violence against Muslims would not have happened. Mammootty said DYFI are the defenders of Muslims in India.
Is it so? Then why Marad happened in Kerala?
And by the way why the DYFI has no presence in Gujarat if the Muslim community considers them as its guardian angels?
And the most crucial point of all that shocks me is this -- why Mammootty cannot consider himself an Indian but only as a Muslim?
There in lies a big story.

That is rubbish. Mammoty made that comment as an indian only. His being a muslim should not hold him back for making that comment.

In my opinion John Cheeran is very much biased against Mammootty. Just like you and me, Mammootty has the freedom to air his views. It becomes a caricature, when people like Cheeran twists what he really said.

The word "Indian" is very much overloaded here. And here again it is misused, against "Muslim".

Mr. Cheeran, do you think, the Gujarath episode was a necessity for the pride of Indians? The rightist parties oppose Mammootty in that lines. THey wont accept any comments against Gujarath goverment. You are also repeating their voice. Man, come to the ground reality.

Mr. Cheeran, its a pity to hear from you such comment. Mr. Mammootty never said one word about Muslim or Hindus or ...why you want twist the story. All worls listen what he said. Nobody thing he is wrong except the sangparivaar and you people..You can imagine what you want. nobody agree with you. Leave Mammootty...

Mr. Cheeran, please read the article below, and stop imagine like Fascist jelousy people, and tell world again that what's with Mr. Mammootty views..be a good man ok.........

I memorize all my scripts for films, but what I am saying today is from my heart,” Mammootty said as he gained the biggest claps among the speakers. He added that the Gujarat carnage in 2002 would not have happened, if the Communist Party of India-Marxist's (CPI-M) youth wing had been stronger in that state.

Mammootty also saw a greater role for Left parties in Jammu and Kashmir. He also made it a point that the DYFI must plan rebellion only against that acts that the common man finds important and not on all issues that their oppositions sparks off.

Cheeran sir,

by reducing Mammootty's greatest strenghts to mere voice & dialogue presentation, you display your dislike for the fabulous actor of kerala in the beginning itself. how would you rate his acts in films like bhotthakkannadi, thaniyavarthanam, danny, amaram, yavanika, arappatta kettiya gramathil, vidheyan, and and and...?!
you missed the wood for the trees. u chose the conveneient path of ignoring the malicious sangh parivar attack against the actor. perhaps, Mammootty should reply to these kind of politicking with his brilliant performances and and non-stop commercial success!
all the best.

Whats Wrong in this?? Why Mammooty Chosen the DYFI meeting to make such a Comment, is it because He is the Chairman of The TV hosted by Left parties? If he is ONly a actor he need not be the angel of DYFI

Those who got angry and violent with Mammootty's comment intentionally left out his comments on Kashmir. He said "if dyfi were strong in Guj. there may not have been pogrom there, if dyfi were strong in Kashmir, there may not have been extremism there either". The latter part is not mentioned by the original poster here? Anyway as a citizen, he has the right to comment on whatever he wants without inciting any hatred towards others and he has just dome that. But is that a reason to burn his effigies and threaten him? And well, commenting on one of the filthiest pogroms in the independent India doesn't make you biased against Hindus. After all, didn't many of those who burned his effigies enjoyed his roles of upper caste Hindu aristocrat/supremacist in many films?
