Indian batting's meaningless summit of 413

By John Cheeran
India ‘s 257-run victory over Bermuda will have any meaning only if they can defeat Sri Lanka on Friday.
For Rahul Dravid and his men, unfortunately, the final has come much too early.
Till they beat Sri Lanka the 413 runs Indian batsmen rattled off against Bermuda will be considered as a desperate but meaningless act.
Supreme among that runs in futility is Virender Sehwag’s century.
I will not buy Indian skipper Rahul Dravid’s line of reasoning that Sehwag has regained his form.
Let Sehwag score a 50 off as many balls against Chaminda Vaas and company till we can say that the Delhi batsman deserves a place in the Indian side.
The only change India made against Bermuda was to bring in Anil Kumble in place of Harbhajan Singh.
How I wish Dravid would make room in the batting lineup for a quick thinker such as Dinesh Karthick who would have made all the difference to the syndrome of getting bogged down in the middle of the innings against spinners.
Obviously Robin Uthappa will have to clear his place after two lofty failures.
And not to have a fifth bowler against a strong batting lineup that of Sri Lanka is likely to take the game out of Indian hands.
Time has come for Dravid to take some ruthless decisions in team selection.
