India-Bangladesh: A match for Virender Sehwag

By John Cheeran
Internet is full of sceptics as India begin to play Bangladesh in their first match of the 2007 World Cup.
Shouldn't India start as favourites to thump Bangladesh?
Bangladesh's ability to back-stab, as they did Pakistan in the 1999 World Cup, and years later against Australia, should keep Rahul Dravid's men on their toes.
But if India can't fancy their chances against Bangladesh how are they going to win the World Cup?
If India manage to play the percentage game -- that is batsmen play out 50 overs-- victory should take care of itself.
All the rusty big guns in the Indian batting lineup should boom against Bangladesh.
If this match means something to anyone among one billion Indians, including the Indian cricket team and an Australian, Greg Chappell, it has to be Virender Sehwag.
It is a pity that India's most dynamic batsman of the recent times has to go through a trial at World Cup.
Sehwag, however, should console himself that Bangladeshis are likely to hurl only hand-made grenades at him.
Quality of attack, you might say.

What a joke! It is such arrogance to downplay the importance of this game
